Audio-Technica ATH-EW9

If you’ve never listened to a pair of Audio Technica headphones, then you don’t know what you’re missing. For some people, headphones are just numbers that indicate an assumed level of quality. For others, a sound is an art form, and numbers mean nothing without the gentle guidance of the human ear.
Audio Technica is this company, and their headphones have quite a massive following for a reason. The Audio-Technica ATH-EW9 headphones are their portable version and are meant to provide impressive Audio Technica quality while on the go. If you’d like to upgrade to these headphones, read on to find out if they’re worth their weight.

Body

The body of these cans features an antique, classic look, which a brushed wine-leather colored shell and soft golden logo in a cursive print. They are round and are designed to sit over the ears, and features cherrywood as the cup material.

There is no headband in these cans, as they are clip-on and sit over the ears. The cord is relatively durable, though I’ve seen better, and they might suffer a fray if the cans are just tossed around carelessly. Be gentle with them, and they should reward you with a long life.

Features

The Audio-Technica ATH-EW9 portables feature a standard 3.5mm jack that is gold-plated, and a decent frequency of 14hrz – 24KHz with 105db at 29Ohm impedance. These won’t draw a lot of power from a portable player, but also won’t thump and rumble the way you might want them to. The magnets are neodymium.

The bundle comes with a carrying pouch only, which is a nice add-on. Considering the ease in getting these tangled.

Sound Quality

Sound quality is good, but the frequency is a bit limiting. These headphones will not work for rap and hip-hop. They sound good, but they don’t rumble. They are very natural sounding cans, also, and will work wonderfully for natural and instrumental sounds. They will also wound great with audiobooks.

Issues

The bass isn’t as strong as it could be, but this isn’t a problem – it’s merely a matter of purchasing headphones that will work with the type of music you listen to.

Conclusion

If you are a classical lover, if you enjoy nature sounds, if you like instrumentals, and if you find folks songs enjoyable, you will love these headphones for both their design and their music. The cherrywood cups are beautiful and add class to these cans.

If you’re a hip hop, rap, or rock lover, you will want to skip on these, no matter how appealing they look.
